BSGI Constitution

The Society’s constitution was adopted on the 1st November 2007 and approved by the Charity commission. The constitution is in two Parts and compiled into 29 Articles.

Part A (Articles 1-6) covers general principles, such as adoption of the constitution (Article 1) and name (Article 2), and more specifically;

Article 3 covers the objects of the Society as outlined in the previous section.

Articles 4 to 6 govern the Society’s application of income, dissolution and the process for introducing amendments to the constitution.

Part B (Articles 7-29) covers membership and the conduct of the Society’s business, and more specifically;

Articles 7 and 8 cover eligibility and spectrum of membership and circumstances in which membership is terminated.

Articles 9 to 15 cover the conduct of general meetings, notices, quorum, voting, adjournment and representation of other bodies at Society’s meetings.

Articles 16 to 29 cover election and appointment of Officers and Trustees of the Society, disqualification, their powers and roles within the Committee, proceedings of the business, rules and bye-laws issued by the Committee as well as annual reports and return of accounts.
