Sonographers

Welcome to the Sonographers' page

Traditionally sonographers have had prior training in X-ray, CT, MRI or general ultrasound.  This professional group has a long history of experience in providing high-quality diagnostic imaging services. More recently sonographers have been essential in the education and training of non-traditional professionals, eg nurses and midwives, in the skilled use of ultrasound.  As a consequence, the provision of ultrasound has become more multi-disciplinary and focussed around team-working.

There is also an increasing need for sonographers to demonstrate that they have fulfilled their CPD requirements.  The British Society for Gynaecological Imaging hopes to bring together the various professional groups, who share a common interest, that is the delivery of the highest quality diagnostic ultrasound, within an educational framework.

Through the Annual Meetings, Educational Meetings and online CPD, the BSGI will be a vibrant society which will provide both education and networking opportunities.  We hope to see as many of you as possible in the near future.
